Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is one of the largest private institutions in the world for research and education in oceanographic science, engineering and education. Located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, it operates three major research vessels and the National Deep Submergence Facility and conducts research in all parts of the world. Jointly with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, it grants doctoral degrees in all areas of ocean science.
