Manufacturing Talent of the Future

The manufacturing industry is undergoing a deep transformation due to the fast pace of technological development, the need to reduce environmental impact as well as to navigate geopolitical risks

In this increasingly complex landscape, it is estimated that manufacturers can improve productivity by leveraging advances in technology and artificial intelligence

To remain competitive, it is essential for manufacturing organizations to put people at their center, engaging in multi-stakeholder partnerships to deploy solutions which support attraction, skilling, and retention of their workers

Objectives


  • Review the challenges faced by manufacturers globally, detailing the macro trends in manufacturing and regional nuances across major manufacturing markets

  • Describe the talent requirements of a factory of the future, identifying new jobs and changing talent composition

  • Understand the trends in talent, drawing insights on how the needs, desires, and preferences of manufacturing talent are changing and what employers can do to address them

  • Build a comprehensive database of solutions showcasing where manufactures have deployed impactful interventions to overcome challenges and the stories of employees who have benefitted from them

Deliverables (past and future outcomes)


  • Report to shape a new narrative on the trends, challenges, and potential solutions available to manufacturers to remain competitive in the next decade

  • Community repository to identify and map high-impact use cases

  • Workshops designed to engage community members in shaping the initiative and share learnings and best practices between manufacturing leaders

How to engage?


  • Engage in exploratory interviews across executives, thought leaders, managers, and employees to share the unique challenges faced by your organization and how you have tried to overcome them

  • Participate or host workshops to learn and share knowledge and best practices with other members of the manufacturing community

  • Appoint an executive whose responsibilities are at the intersection of people, operations, and technology deployment and engage in cross-organization dialogues and actions (e.g., Chief Operating Officer) to join the Steering Committee of the initiative
