Geneva Dialogue: Building a trusted, secure and stable cyberspace through public-private collaboration on international policy and standards.
The welfare of our societies depends on digital technologies. International discussions on the norms governing cyberspace are intensifying. Businesses are under pressure to ensure the trustworthiness and security of their organisations, their products and their supply chains. The responses from industry and governments are often innovative but also fragmented across supply-chains and borders.
The lack of a shared vision for digital product security is compounded by gaps in cybersecurity capacity and the absence of a clear pathway towards cybersecurity implementation.
Launched in 2020, the Geneva Dialogue on Responsible Behaviour in Cyberspace gathers some of the world’s leading ICT companies as well as companies active in critical infrastructure, operational security and cybersecurity services. It aims to cultivate a corporate ecosystem geared towards security and trust.
The Geneva Dialogue will shape a shared vision for the security of digital products by enhancing how leading businesses understand and contribute to global policy processes. This will improve input to global policy discussions and international negotiations on the security of digital products.
The Geneva Dialogue will strengthen links between deliberations on corporate best practice and the development of national, regional, and global regulations; as well as the global policies, principles, and standards governing the security of digital products.
Building on the groundbreaking work of the Geneva Dialogue in 2020, in particular the collection of good industry practices, the Dialogue will create common policy principles for baseline security requirements that boost security of digital products.
The initiative will enhance the feedback loop between industry efforts and cybersecurity policy processes at international or regional levels. The Dialogue will deepen its collaboration with other multilateral and multi-stakeholder initiatives in order to activate synergies, expand capacities and incentivise implementation of cybersecurity best practice.
