Gender Parity Accelerators

Advancing women’s employment could add $12 trillion to global GDP and boost some countries' economic output by as much as 35%. Despite the clear business and economic case, global progress is stagnating. According to the 2022 Gender Gap Report, it will take 151 years to close economic gender gaps. Gender Parity Accelerators are national public-private collaboration platforms that seek to close gender gaps in labour force participation, wages, and leadership; and hardwire gender parity in the future of work.

Objectives

Tackling challenges together

Gender Parity Accelerators tackle structural issues such as access to quality and affordable childcare, social safety nets, flexible work arrangements and discriminatory social norms. They also promote pay transparency and enhance work quality and pay standards, set targets for women in leadership, and create workforce diagnostics and reskilling and upskilling initiatives to boost women's employment in high growth sectors.

In Latin America and Caribbean region, Accelerators are known as Iniciativas de Paridad de Género and implemented through a partnership between the World Economic Forum and the Inter-American Development Bank that was launched in 2016 and later expanded to include the Agence Française de Développement in 2019.
