In the United Arab Emirates there are several driving sources which shape the future of jobs and skills in the world. Among these are the technological progress which will open new horizons for non-existing opportunities, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, automation and advanced manufacturing, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), big data and data analysis. Moreover, with the global drive towards sustainability, new types of jobs in alternative energy and waste management are being created.
United Arab Emirates' students, recent graduates and current workers will need specific skills to prosper in this changing world of work. The Ministry of Higher Education and Advanced Skills is leading the Closing the Skills Gap Accelerator in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. The Accelerator focuses on providing people at all stages of their career with the soft and hard skills that prepare them for the future of work, through setting up public-private skilling, reskilling and upskilling initiatives.
