Richard Bennett

Founder, High Tech Forum

Richard Bennett is the founder of High Tech Forum. He has a 30 year background in network engineering and standards where he played an instrumental role in the development of Ethernet switching and Wi-Fi. He's worked for leading applied research labs, where portions of his work were underwritten by DARPA. He is the inventor of four issued patents on wireless networking and Internet protocols.

Richard is an expert witness, financial forecaster, and Internet policy expert. He speaks at technical and policy conferences around the world and advises governments on network policy: He serves on the Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore’s Economist and Regulatory Advisory Board, and has advised Congress, the FCC, the European Commission and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union on spectrum and Internet policy. He’s an active member of the Broadband Internet Technical Advisory Group (BITAG) technical working group, the IEEE Internet Initiative, and the FCC’s Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee’s Model Municipal Codes working group.

He graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1976 and has taken post-graduate courses in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
