Jon Liao Jianwen is the chief strategy officer of JD.com. In this role, Liao spearheads JD’s strategic planning, partnerships, investment, innovation and global government relations. Liao’s work is at the center of JD’s transformation into a technology and service company with retail at its core, and he has been a fundamental driver of Retail as a Service. Previously, he advised China’s top CEOs for years as Associate Dean at CKGSB. He currently serves on the board of several companies, including Farfetch, 361˚, China Unicom and Yonghui Superstores, among others. Previously residing in the Greater Chicago region of the United States, Liao holds a Ph. D. in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University, a master of arts in Economics from Renmin University, and a bachelor of engineering in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University.
