Kirill Veselkov

Assistant Professor in Computational Medicine, Imperial College London

Dr. Veselkov serves as an Assistant Professor of Computational Medicine at the Department of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London, where his research is dedicated to leveraging computational and AI methodologies to transform data-driven global health and disease management. He has led the development of a series of field-changing AI/machine learning frameworks to augment emerging molecular ("-omics") profiling technologies into clinical decision support, and population health management. His expertise combines the use of a diverse range of computational techniques from deep learning (including graph neural networks), machine learning, and mobile high-performance computing for information extraction from heterogeneous biomedical datasets. Specializing in precision nutrition and medicine, Dr. Veselkov leads AI innovation for the EU-wide AIDA project, focusing on AI-driven gastric inflammation diagnostics. In partnership with the Vodafone Foundation, he also directs the DreamLab-DRUGS and CORONA-AI projects, harnessing network-based AI and processing power of thousands of smartphones to investigate potential cancer and COVID-19 treatments via drug-food synergies. His research was featured by technology programs BBC Click, Sky Swipe, and numerous media outlets.
