Greetje Corporaal

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford

I’m a postdoctoral research fellow and tutor at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and an incoming British Academy research fellow at Saïd Business School (SBS), University of oxford. I’m also an associate member of the Digital Organisation and Society Research Centre at Royal Holloway University of London and a co-host of the Talking About Organizations Podcast (https://www.talkingaboutorganizations.com).

A Sociologist of Work and Organizations, my research interests lie at the intersection of Organization and Management Theory, Information Systems Research, and Economic Sociology. In particular I’m interested in understanding the social, organizational, and economic implications of using digital technologies in the workplace. This has been the focus of my doctoral research project, an ethnographic study of cross-boundary collaboration, of my postdoctoral research in the iLabour Project, an ethnographic study of the emergence and creation of online labour markets, and which will be continued in the upcoming iWork Project, an ethnographic study of how ‘work’ is changing when firms use digital platforms to bring remote independent contractors into the workplace.

At the OII I teach the MSc Options Course Digital Technology and Economic Organization as well as supervise MSc thesis students. I’ve also been involved in various executive education programmes at Saïd Business School. I hold a PhD in Organization Sciences, a MSc (cum laude) in Social Research (major Organization Sciences), and a PMC (cum laude) in Culture, Organization, and Management from VU Amsterdam. I further hold a BSc in Psychology from the University of Groningen, where I also studied Modern Japan Studies and Classical Violin.
