Dr. Zhang Chaozhi, who got his doctoral degree of tourism management in Sun Yat-sen University in 2004, he currently is professor of tourism at School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University, China, he is Chair holder of UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism at UNESCO Designated Sites, he also acts as the vice president of Institute of Belt and Road Studies, Sun Yat-sen University. He experts in cultural and heritage tourism, destination management and development. His researches focus on how tourism development and management impact heritage conservation, and how heritage used in sustainable tourism. He has published more than 100 papers in both international and domestic peer reviewed journals, two books about tourism development and heritage conservation, and acted as principal for 6 academic national level projects.
He serves as editorial board member for several top tier journals such as 《Journal of Sustainable Tourism》、《Journal of Destination Marketing & Management》, also actives in heritage conservation and tourism development affairs such as practitioners training, policy consultant, and actively involves in UNESCO, IUCN and ICOMOS related projects and works in China.
He also serves as consultant for several tourism firms and tourism destination governments such as Zhangjiajie, Jiangmen and Guangzhou, to promote academic knowledge sharing between university, government and industry.
