Andreas Wallraff

Professor of Solid State Physics, Department of Physics, ETH Zurich

Since 2006 Andreas Wallraff is a Professor of Physics at ETH Zurich. His work is focused on the fundamental exploration of quantum physics and its applications in information technology. Andreas studied Physics at RWTH Aachen, Germany and Imperial College, London (1992-1997) and earned a PhD from the University of Erlangen (2000). During his research at Yale University (2002-2006) with collaborators he laid out the foundations for using superconducting circuits for quantum information processing. At ETH Zurich Andreas heads the Strategy Committee of the Physics Department and leads the Quantum Engineering Initiative with its Quantum Engineering Center.
